Pharmacognosy Department deals with the investigation of pharmaceutical raw materials from natural sources. Its scoe includes research and development, and teaching of their extraction and isolation, phytochemical techniques, ethnobotany, phytotherapy, traditional and complementary therapies. Main mandate of the department is to provide vocational training in accordance with the latest scientific and technological advances accompanied by practical (laboratory) applications.

Pharmacognosy is under the Department of Professional Pharmaceutical Sciences and also offers MSc and PhD programmes at the Graduate Institute of Health Sciences. During the Graduate Education students are expected to strictly follow ethical principles in their theoretical and practical scientific work.



Pharmacognosy Department is the most active, well equipped and well staffed academic entity of Anadolu University Faculty of Pharmacy with esteemed international reputation.
